DESIGN ELEMENTS
The project is an up-scale European Italian restaurant, nestled within the bustling Makedonia International Airport of Thessaloniki. The inspiration of the design derives from the seamless fusion of aviation-inspired aesthetics with fine Italian charm.
It consists of a restaurant area with kitchen, bar and a large seating area with striking views to the airport apron area, as well as a small coffee bar with premium coffee blends.  The restaurant space is separated into two main areas: the kitchen area and the bar.
The kitchen area consists of an open kitchen and a preparation area with sushi. Both counters are placed towards the one side of the unit which makes customers feel welcome. For the top counter  a luxurious dark marble effect was chosen in order to exude an air of sophistication. Adorning the façade surrounding the kitchen, tiles with wood effect finish arranged in a herringbone pattern create a sense of texture and depth, infusing warmth and character into the space.
The main bar is placed in the centre of the unit allowing customers view to the runway. The iconic bar is a focal point drawing guests in with its industrial allure and timeless elegance.
The façade of the counter is decorated with metal  sheets and flat steel sections with patina paint. The wall of the back counter is adorned with grand-scale pendant structure that serves as a glass rack cabinet. The structure draws the eye with its intricate design and by creating  a contrast against the dark metallic structure of the airport.
The high visibility of the bar and the kitchen counters with its displays and decorative elements was a priority of the design. On the opposite side, the coffee counter offers drinks, snacks and sweets either to sit in or takeaway. The remaining space is a large sitting area. The customers can enjoy food and wine in an upscale and cosy atmosphere.
Soft lighting casts a warm glow, enhancing the ambiance. Retro inspired furnishings and décor elements transport diners to a time o luxury air travel. Every detail has been meticulously curated to define the aesthetics and to enhance the overall dining experience.
