DESIGN ELEMENTS

The architectural design of the Avant Mar hotel extension sought to preserve the key features of the existing complex while reinterpreting them in a contemporary manner, with respect for both its historical value and architectural identity. Once converted into a restaurant, the former Xenia building was restored through the intervention to its original use as a hotel, bringing its authentic character back to the forefront.

As part of the extension, five new suites were created, each with a private courtyard and its own landscaped surroundings. The courtyards were enhanced with pergolas that integrate seamlessly into the scale of the landscape, providing shade, privacy, and a sense of natural continuity with the setting.

In addition, new staircases were introduced on the building’s façade, carefully designed to harmonize with the existing morphology, improving functionality while maintaining the clarity of the architectural composition.
